: This could be serious. Please take your budgie to someone who specializes in birds. Our budgie had similar symptoms (while we were on vacation) and within a few days his legs became paralized. We took him to the vet too late. He died after about 1 week. Please take your bird in, the earlier the better. : : My budgie Sidney appears to have a lump near his bottom, he is red all around that area and it looks raw, also the feathers from around there have come out. He is eating fine and acting like his normal self, and his partner is fine also. I have only noticed this today, and am concerned about what could be wrong with him, can anyone help me at all, I cant get him to the vet until monday. Could this be some type of mite or infection? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Thankyou for the reply, I took Sidney to the vet and he isn't sure what is wrong with him. Over the past two weeks I have given him antibiotics from the vet 3 times a day, and bathe him as needed to keep the area clean. He is still eating normally and seems himself but it does not appear to be getting any better, but thankfully no worse. He is in a seperate cage to his partner and they are not very happy about that. The vet gave me a name for an avian vet to take him to if no better in a couple of days. His legs seem to be fine he climbs all over the cage trying to find a way to get to his partner. Again thankyou for the reply and advice.
