I am posting as a response to this part of your Canary FAQ: Make sure that the bird is in a relatively quiet room. The cage should be against a wall and slightly higher than your eye level. There should not be any loud noises (including music) in the room. Children and pets should not be allowed to startle the bird. Birds need proper rest. If the room is not dark at night, then cover the cage with a towel from dusk to dawn. A loud room is very good for a bird. If you wish for your canary to be sad, lonely, and unactive then you can leave it in a room where it is basically deaf.
