Hello again. I have a 2 year old male budgie, Peri Lee Winkle. I got him when he was a baby and was hand-fed. We are totally bonded. I have a big cage for him in my bedroom and another "play" cage for him in an adjoining guest room. He is never caged up, but flies freely between the cages and enjoys the whole upstairs of my condo. He will never fly down for some reason. So he is totally safe. He has never been "locked up."
I am leaving for a six-day vacation and must leave him home. I was considering between these options:
1. Boarding him (but he would be caged up; this seems cruel for him)
2. Have a friend come once a day to check up on him and make sure he is OK.
Will he stress out knowing there is no one home? I have even thought of borrowing someone's budgie to keep in the room so he won't be too lonely. What do you think?
Have budgies ever died from being lonely? I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks
