: Can someone offer me some instructions? I'd rather get it from a person who has experience and can offer tips that have worked for them, rather than an old book somewhere. Thanks!

Victoria,
The first time is a little scary but after you do it you realize how easy it is. I use a sharp pair of scissors. hold the bird gently enough not to hurt but tight enough to not let it go. extend the wing and check the feathers. you can sometimes see the blood feather. don't cut theese. I leave the longest and the third to the longest and cut the rest. This way the bird doesn't loose the look. really short feathers are new and I don't cut them. I hold the bird so the head is between my middle finger and pointer finger so it can wiggle away and is hard for the bird to bite I can still use my pointer finger and thumb to hold the wing. I put the other three fingers aroud the tummy and use my pinky to keep the feet out of the way. be carefull not to sqeeze to hard and hurt the bird. good luck!
Jodi
