I agree with the other poster Except all my cages I use nothing BUT newspaper Anything else is a waste and the corn cob can lead to impacted crop and digestive issues leading to death. This helps them have all they need I would take the egg and replace in bottom of cage and leave it there till you were sure no more would be laid The female will sometimes ignore till two or three have been laid Cheryl Hi. My brother left for Iraq to serve in the war. He left his male and female parakeets in my care while he is gone. It's been several months and they fight like crazy but I came home today and there is an egg on the bottom of the cage floor. I have no nest box or anything like that. My brother left crunched up corn cob for me to use on the cage floor. He had been using that. So the egg is just sitting there. Neither one of the birds is sitting on the egg. They are not even going near it. I do not beleive they have ever laid eggs before. I don't know what to do. The cage needs to be cleaned but I am scared to do anything with the egg sitting there. I don't want to disturb anything. Any suggestions? Anyone? Feel free to email me. Thanks.
