: : Thanks for publishing my norwiches on your page, they are inseparable. My red factor hen seems to be plucking out her feathers???..She's not sick, she doesn't have mites or lice, I never see her scratching. She eats alot and often and always is chipping at her honey seed bar. I found her this morn with feathers in her mouth, so I think she is plucking, Is this part of the moult, because my other canarys aren't showing signs of moulting. I am thinking of moving her into the room with the other birds, She doesn't like being in a cage with the other female. Would this be a good step to take to put her around the others..any suggestions appreciated..thanks Judy
: Hi Judy:
: Do you think she is getting ready to hatch eggs. Where on her body is she pulling the feathers from. Hens that breed have what is called a brood patch on their fronts under their chests around the belly. Try giving her a nest with some soft material such as kleenex and see if that helps.
: Good Luck and please keep us posted.
: Grace

I think you are right,She passed a little blood this morn, but doesn't seem to be in any pain. She's eating alot and takes a full bath every day and eats her honey treat seed bar constantly, she's not trying to build a nest. I moved her to the room where the other 3 canarys are and she is more vocal, she hadn't been chirping at all. Could it be an early moult, I did find a little feather in the cage this am, other than that she seems fine.
