: Well, feet and legs problems are not rare among canaries. Among the various causes is Gout due to overfeeding of boiled eggs. What exactly to do you feed him? Lots of lettuce, the usual grain mix, and a daily apple byte. As special treat he can get a nibble of parsley, or a bit of sweet corn. At his less than two years of age he eats like a champ, but burns every ounce of it. :^) Today I have observed what definitely is one slightly overgrown twisted nail in the back toe. I suspect he might have caught it someplace and caused some toe sprain. After a week he still sleeps with that foot safely tucked against his body, despite the sauna-like weather. Fortunately he seems to be able to use the foot almost normally now, including all kinds of athletics, for all we can observe. Should I trim a bit of that nail? It even seems to force an uncomfortable grip when he perches, which had never happened before. Thanks,
