: : : Can anyone help?  I'm going to take my budgie to the vet, but I'd like some advise before I go so that I can prepare myself in case of bad news.  She's a yellow albino, about 8 years old.  She has a perfectly normal appetite, but she has looked like she's pregnant for a couple of years.  We took her to the vet before (2 years ago), in case she was egg-bound, but he said she wasn't, and that she was just fat.  We can't put her on a diet because we have another budgie (perfectly healthy) who'd loose weight then too!  She's so huge she can't fly, and so doesn't get too much excersise.  Her feathers are coming out over her huge tummy now - has anyone else seen a bird like this??  I don't want to loose her, and she acts normally, eats normally - she doesn't appear in any pain.

: : Unfortunately, your bird might have a tumor.  Keets don't swell up or in any other way appear pregnant before laying an egg.

: : My cockatiel has exactly the same symptoms - she actually looks pregnant but seems well in herself.  Has anyone managed to establish what might cause this?
