Hello Hammertoes:
Does this canary sing? A male bird will usuall sing. Also why are you picking him up all the time? Canaries do not like to be handled a lot.
1. If he sings, he is a male.
2. If you want to breed him you should have a female.
3. Put the females cage next to him and let them get acquainted
and then put them in the same cage. If the female lays eggs
and sits on them see what happens when the eggs hatch.
