Place in sight of the feeder, a bird cage with a dish of canary seed mix inside. The cage must be high enough so that cats can't reach it. The cage needs to have a door that will close by itself -- either by gravity or a spring. Hold the cage door open with a long string that you can release remotely. Try to catch the bird as soon as possible. The weather in the New York metropolitan area has been too cold for a canary. : Over the past couple days, a canary has been feeding at my back yard bird feeder. It’s obviously domestic because first off, I live on Long Island in New York so I know Canaries are not indigenous to the area and second, it lets me approach it however flies away when I try to restrain it. I would : What’s the best approach? : Thank you,
