My canary, Bert, Has just suffered from a massive clamidia infection in his sinuses and inner ear. The infection was around for months, but I did not recognize it, and all seemed okay. Unfortunately, The infection became accute while I was away on vacation, and my brother, who was caring for Bert while I was away, did not know that he was sick either. When I returned, Bert was dying. The infection was cured by antibiotics, but Bert is now skeletal and weak from the massive amount of weight he lost during his illness. With moulting season coming up soon, I am worried that he might not survive the stress of the moult. I need to know what foods to give him to help him gain weight as quickly as possible before the moult. I am currently giving him boiled egg, spinnach, apple, brocoli flowers, and cucumber. Because of his extreme weakness, he is not able to crack seeds to eat them, so I have resorted to crushing seeds in a bowl myself, and straining out the hulls. I also tried making a paste from egg, spinnach and apple, but Bert would not eat it. What do I need to give him to help him recover as quickly as possible?
