I have 2 canaries had them for over a year, when i first got them they shared a cage with 6 finches, the cage was 8ft x 3ft x x 7ft , they was in with the finches for about 6 months, then the finches laid eggs, i put the canaries in the cockatiels cage (size-6ft x 5ft x 7ft) for aweek then they went into there own cage (size-8ft x 3ft x 7ft) the canaries have just had 4 chicks, when they got put in with the other birds they loved flying around chasing each other, the male always singing, taking a bath one will bath the other will wait then jump in, the finches went about as they did before the canaries moved in , when they had there own cage he fed her when she was pregnant and before that they would fly around the female following the male, ...when i go to change the water/food the male gets out sometimes and the female starts calling, he will go back to her or she will fly out and go to him, and as the chicks hatched she got of went to eat he flu up and fed the chicks she came back sat in the nest he fed her then they both fed the chicks now the finches, canaries and cockatiels are in there own cage well mini aviaries there not small there all looking good, healthy, nice feathers, feet, eyes and around them what do you do only let them see each other when it suits the owner here you go spend some time togehter then im gonna take you away cruel ...:p
