Our 12-year old parakeet died this weekend. Besides coping with the loss of our family member, we're just perplexed as we had no forewarning. We noticed absolutely no changes in his behavior or health -- he was perky, ate well, etc. and all other factors were consistent (food, environment, etc.). We didn't witness the event; he was fine in the morning, but just a few hours later, we found him dead. What might explain this sudden passing? Sorry for the naive question, but can parakeets have sudden cerebro or cardiovascular events?
