Canary FAQ

Well, my 2 canaries laid 3 eggs. I was giving them a lot of protein and the mother seemed to be an excellent mother because she would not stop sitting on them for a second. I'm a little confused as to why they laid eggs now since it is not breeding season? Also, on the 14th day one of the eggs hatched but the other 2 eggs did not, about a week passed and the other 2 eggs still did not hatch and I found the chick that hatched dead this morning but the mother continued to sit in the nest, I don't know what has happened? What should I do? What prevented this?
