A friend left me with a gray, male Cocatiel of unknown age. I have had him for 3 years and he belonged to several homes before that. I don't know what the signs of age are or what to look for. My concern is that his beak has changed configuration over time. The lower portion now extends beyond the upper portion and his feet don't curl around the perch anymore. It would help to know what an experienced bird owner would recognize as signs of normal aging in these creatures. If it were a cat I would know right away. Please respond if you are able. Thanks, Diane.
