: : My female canary laid 4 eggs.  She has been incubating for 4 days already.  She usually takes breaks to eat and drink water but today she laid a darker blue egg (I am assuming it's her last egg for the clutch) and she has not left the nest to eat or drink.  Is this normal?  She seems fine but I am worried because she is on the nest more than the prior 3 days without the proper nutrition.  

: The bird is almost certainly leaving the nest to eat.  She is covering the eggs to protect them when you are present.
