: Hi I was just wondering is it okay to cage 2 parakeets and a cocatiel together? I have 2 keets right now and was thinking about getting a cocatiel but wanted to ask around first to see if it was okay..thank you. If the cage is very large this might work. But, it's best not to take the chance. Even if you were to house the birds together, you'd first need to have the cockatiel in a separate cage close to the original one. This way, the keets can become acquainted with the newcomer. If you are getting a hand-fed cockatiel, putting the baby with the keets definitely won't be a good idea. The keets will bully the young bird. Also, you want a tame bird to look to you for company.
