: My male parakeet Cricket is seven years old.  He's currently with his new mate, Little Bit.  Cricket's former mate (also called Little Bit) passed away several months ago.  They were together for four years, and NEVER had a single egg laid.  Could be that the females just aren't interested in mating with these particular males (think cheerleader and pimple faced geek).
