: : : i have a female keet that killed her mate about a week ago. she has a clutch of four eggs, and i was wondering if she could hatch them without any help from a male. (as in him feeding her while she incubated.) my dad said that she probably is an over-protective mother, and does not want anyone (not even the possible father) near her eggs. he thinks that's why she killed him. but i am confused. why would she kill her mate? oh, and i don't know if the eggs are good, since i never saw them mate until the day the male was killed. is there a way to tell if the eggs are good? can someone help me? i would appreciate it.

: : She can take care of them herself.  She will leave the nest for short periods of time to eat.  After the eggs are about 5 days old you can remove them from the nest and put a light behind them.  If you see red lines through it like a map you will know that the eggs are fertile.
