I have recently bought a couple of cockatiels. One of them is about 13 weeks old, I bought (him or her) from a pet store. The other one is a 6 year old male, I bought him from a person who was running an ad in our local paper. Their cages are side by side and I cover them at night with a blanket. During the day I leave the blanket folded on top of their cages. When I let them out to play the 6yr old gets on top the blanket and rubs his bottom back and forth for about 1 min and then he stops and goes about his business and starts playing. What does this mean? How come he is doing this? Is he possibly trying to mate with the blanket? Should I get a female to put with him? Please help... Any advice will be appreciated. I also have 4 pairs of parakeets set up for breeding, one pair has 5 babies... they are really cute.. Could this be the reason my cockatiel is acting this way?
