It could be a breeding type call, but cockatiels do make a variety of calls and
whistles just as part of their normal vocalizing. They also mimic, and if he has
heard outside birds, may have picked up one of their calls. I would need to have

What do you mean by "chalk"? Are you talking about a mineral block or cuttlebone?
What kind of diet do you have him on as his main food?
