: i have 2 couple of canary and today is 16th day of lays eggs for them .I read that the egg should hatch for 14 day.Can someone help me whith any tips It's fourteen days from the time that the hen starts to sit on the eggs. That might be five days from the date of the first egg. Their are many reasons why eggs fail to hatch. Not conditioning the birds properly and putting them together too soon are the major causes. Canaries need a diet rich in protein, vitamins and minerals ALL YEAR ROUND! Not providing egg food or providing it just before breeding robs the eggs of vitality. If the eggs are not properly incubated, they will not hatch. Noise, lights night, small children, mites, cats, and mice can disturb the hen enough for her to leave the nest.
