I have had my parakeet for 21/2 mos.He was totally panicked from the time I got him at a pet shop until a couple of weeks ago.His wings were clipped when I got him from a pet store,so I would put him and a playground on the floor and he would spend his time flapping and hopping to get away from me.I have kept working with him and thought when he could fly,he might feel more secure. He loves to fly and is still learning to land and make turns. He will take food from my hand, but not get on my hand.I move him in his cage to about everyplace I move in the house so he can get used to my movements.I have had parakeets before, but never this problem-- I don't know what else to do to get him to accept me.He does not seem to be just really afraid of me,but when I try to get him onto my finger, the panic sets in.I am seriously thinking of giving up trying to tame him down as I don't know what else to do--he seems to be a sweet bird, has never bitten me,but he just does not want to deal with me. When in his cage--he just sits.Out side he is playful on his cage,as long as I stay away.Would getting a handfed bird and working with it help or would it ruin the hand trained bird?Or should I just find someone who just wants a bird-----I really hate to do that as
