: I'm birdsitting for my mother. So there are two Canaries in one cage and two parakeets in the other.

: The female Canary currently has four eggs in her "nest". She just laid the fourth one today. She started laying on Tuesday, so that's like one per day. I'm ok dealing with them because my Mother told me what to do. I got them some nest materials and they made thier little nest. I only have to fiddle with the food and water.

: BUT!!!

: The Parakeets are another story all together. Mom "gave" me the male parakeet. He's older and not tame. He was talking quite a bit and that cracks me up. Today it's like he's a different bird. He escaped the cage. I waited until he stopped flying and dropped my daughter's t-shirt on him. As I put him back in his cage, he bit me and drew blood. Now he's sitting there with his feathers all fluffed up.

: The two bird cages are side by side. Is he having issues because of the Canaries nesting? What would cause his personality to change after two weeks? His cere is clear, nails are fine, doesn't seem to be overly or underly grooming. He actually stepped up on the food dish and ate as I was checking it, so I know he's eating. What's with the tude?

: The female parakeet, she's been here a week. It took only a couple days for them to decide they liked each other. I made a mistake, according to what I have read here today, I put her right into the cage with him. But he liked her...she just wasn't real keen on him. Now she likes him though. Does she have anything to do with his new attitude? She's still very young, still has the black stripes on her forhead.

: I've read the Parakeet FAQ and stuff like that. I can't find an answer to why he's being a grump.

You write that the male parakeet is an adult and not tame. Make sure that he can't get out of the cage. If you handle him, expect him to try to bite.
