: : :     It has been two weeks since three of our parakeets hatched and we decided to hand raise them. Last night we took them out and put them in a separate area away from the other parakeets...well, I can't get them to eat and I know they are hungry because they are chirping and trying to feed eachother..i got the formula and I know I have been doing it right. Im worried that we are just going to have to put them back with their mother...do you have any suggestions that might help me with feeding them..any tips? im desperate:-(

: : How are you trying to feed them?  Unlike cockatiels, keets are not easy to hand feed.  You need to use either a syringe or a spoon.  Basically, it would be best to see someone doing this before trying it yourself.

: : Also, the youngsters need to be in a warm environment.  A screen-covered dry fish tank with a reptile heat block can be used.  

: : If the youngsters and parents are able to hear each other, when separated both are going to get very upset.

: : Very few people hand-feed keets.  Generally, for tame birds, a youngster is placed in its own cage as soon as it leaves the nest.
