Make sure that the bird is getting a complete diet. If the seed isn't vitamin enriched, then provide vitamins in the water. Each day, give a small amount of fruit, vegetable, and a protein-source. A small amount of chicken egg cooked as for human consumption mixed with whole wheat bread is very good. To control mites and lice, each week mist the bird and the area around the cage with an avian insecticide that contains .05% pyrethrin as the active ingredient. : When we got home we noticed that - in the middle of our canary's head all the hair was gone. It looked like someone scalped our bird. : Our canary seems fine: eating, singing, flying around but in the middle of his head it looks as if someone took a razor and shaved the middle of his head. : Any thoughts or concerns??? : Thanks for your help.
