: I have 2 parakeets: a blue one named Zipporah, and one named Ava that was labelled as a "rare" parakeet... she is yellow all over.  I got Ava about a month ago, and Zipporah about 6 months ago.
: Anyway, yesterday I came home and there were like at least 30 of Zipporah's feathers around her cage.  Today the same thing happened.  I don't observe her pulling them out.  She is fluffing herself more than usual, but otherwise she is ok.  I would just assume that this is normal molting (I've never had it happen to this extent before), except that it happened so suddenly... within the space of like 6 hours it went from zero feathers around their cage to like 30.  And it continues today.
