I am a novice to canaries in general. Just wanted a singer, but the bird my husband brought home started laying eggs. He then bought me a red-factored male that was a guaranteed singer, but after a month has not begun to sing. He will go back. Question is, my female lays eggs repeatedly, and I wonder if this is harmful to her. I've had her for nearly five months and she has layed one batch of five, and recently a batch of four, and is wanting to nest again. Is this healthy for her? I can throw away the eggs, but it seems cruel for her to continue to be laying with no offspring to show for it. Is it harmful to keep the male bird with her, or should he be kept in another room? Thanks for any insights.
