Canaries sometimes do moult in patches. Make sure that your bird has a good source of protein each day. Chicken egg (cooked as for human consumption) mixed with whole wheat bread is very good.

Also, to control mites and lice, spray the bird once a week with an avian insecticide that contains .05% pyrethrin as the active ingredient.
