: I have had a parakeet for 2 years. I forgot what kind of seed I had previously purchased, so got him some other. Now he doesn't want to eat it, give him millet spray and he gobbles them, but surely can't just eat millet every day. Buy another brand of seed -- possibly from a different vendor. As the bird still has a hearty appetite, it seems possible that the batch of seed that you acquired last was not fresh. If you are buying seed from a local pet shop, try the same brand that they are feeding their birds. If the shop birds are being fed from a bulk bag, get some of that. If most of the seed mix is being sold loose, the small boxes might wind up being on the shelf too long.
