May be she simply hungry? : : : : My female canary laid 4 eggs, it's been 21 days since the first and she has sat on them constantly. When held up to a light the first one looked fertile, but now they are clear with a glob of solid on the one side. Should i remove them from the nest and put the male back in to try again or should i just give up for the season?: : : Remove the eggs and place the male back in the cage. : : : By the way, there's no need to separate the male from the female after mating. In fact, the male will help feeding the nestlings. : : : Diet is extremely important. The seed mix should be vitamin, mineral, and protein enriched. Also, do give fresh food every day. : : : : Thank you very much, I have been giving them a complete diet since the time I have gotten them with fresh fruits and hard boiled eggs almost everyday. Now that I have taken her eggs from her and replaced Robin (my male) she keeps jumping around looking for her eggs. Is this normal? I removed the male because after she had laid the second of the four eggs she started beating him everytime he got near her nest. : As the hen had become territorial concerning the nest, removing the male was the proper thing to do. : It's to be expected that the hen will miss the eggs. She should forget about them soon and then begin to start a new clutch of eggs.
