Make sure that the bird gets strictly the same amount of light as there is hours of daylight. If the room is lit at night, then cover the cage with a towel from dusk to dawn.

It's best to let the bird sit on the eggs. That will minimize constant egg production. Laying one egg after another can kill a canary.

Definitely make sure that the diet is vitamin, mineral, and protein enriched.
