: canaries are perfectly happy in their lil homes.if they were out in nature in my area they would die so captivity is the only way to have them.just turn on the music give them food and a window and they are happyyy birds.

Costas,
different sizes of perches is good because it exercises their feet and helps to keep the nails trimmed. I will sometimes take a small branch from outside and put it in the cage (usually they are smaller at one end and larger at the other). make sure it is clean. As far as quiet in the evening they will easily adjust to your schedule even if changes on a regular basis.
