: I have had my canary for approx 4 years (I do not know the breed but he is fairly small and sings continuously).  For the past 3 years he has lost feathers around his neck and face but has never replaced them.  He has never gone into a full moult since I have had him, although this year he has lost more feathers than previous.  However, his head is now nearly bald (down to the base of his neck - and I can see his ears.  I have sprayed him and his cage for mites (often) and am feeding him a tonic.  He eats mixed canary seed, baths nearly every day and has lettuce or cucumber 2 to 3 times a week.
: He is still singing well!
: What could be causing this loss of feathers and could it be serious?
