Hi:Firs of all I want to tell you that you got a beautiful canary.

1. You do not have to give a Waterslager and different care then any other type canary. You have to give them all good care.
2. I don't know what demensions your cage is but a cage should be approximately 26 inches long, 22 inches wide and it does not matter how high but about 18 inches high.
3. I can tell my canary considers his cage his home and is very secure and happy in it.
4. If your canary is a male he does not need an other canary in his cage. He considers his cage his home and males like their own space and will sing and if you are around and give him attention he will be very happy and not need anyone in his cage with him.
Good Luck with him and please keep us updated about him.
Grace
1. Hello!

: I am 25 years old, living in Greece, and I just have bought a very
: nice Waterslager.

: As I am a rookie on that hobby I think that I will need your help
: and experience
: I will try to be clear for my new (maybe silly!) questions!

:
: 1) Do Waterslager canaries need any special care than all the others
: canaries?

: 2) The larger the cage is the better is for the canary?
: My cage is 58x50x30 cms.
: What do you think? Do I need a larger cage
: Do canaries feel the cage as a prison or as their home and so they
: feel happy?

: 3)When I got it I thought that it would be a nice idea to get
: a "friend" for him!

: As far as I know, getting another male in the same cage would cause
: great arguments...So the best is to get a 2nd male in another cage?

: *But a 2nd male is a right company (as we understand it) or it's just
: a competi.tion?*

: So, I mean, that the BEST company for a male canary is obviously a
: female?

: And if they live peacefully that means that they will continue living on that way for the rest of their lives?

:
: What to do if someone doesn't want breeding? Any safe, tips?

:
: Thanks for all!
