In parakeets, the moult generally is in late Summer.

A sudden reduction in the hours of light will cause a moult.

To grow new feathers requires a lot of protein. Make sure that your pet's seed mix is vitamin enriched. Plus, every day offer a small amount of a protein supplement. Chicken egg (cooked as for human consumption) mixed with whole wheat bread is very good.
