Unfortunately, there's no way to "rig up" an incubator with light bulbs. The temperature must stay within a few degrees. The most practical course of action is to place the eggs under a hen whose own clutch is not fertile. The eggs need to be about the same age. As the hen is sick, in this case there's a concern about contagion. Why does the hen with the eye infection have to spend a few days at the veterinarian. Have you discussed the matter with the doctor? Perhaps, the bird could be treated in your home. : I have a female canary that has been incubating eggs for about 8 days. She developed an eye infection, and I have to leave her at the veterinarian for approximately 2 days. Can anyone suggest a way for me to make a quick homemade incubator using a lamp or similar item. She has worked so hard, and the eggs appear to be fertile when looked under a light. : Thank you
