I reciently bought a pair of ringneck doves, the one who i thought was a male ended up being a female and the one i thought was a female ended up being the male haha. Anyhow, today as i went to close up their shelter for the night i saw an egg<--the hen was on the egg but when i approached she stood just enough that i saw the egg! I did what i normally do, made sure they had food and water then closed their shelter and left...i didn't want to cause any unneeded stress to a new situation for them and me. Anyhow, i am curious, i should NOT at all handle the egg, am i correct? And will they lay their second egg tomorrow or does that take a few days? I have a dove book and have researched plenty but i still am finding information i need but cannot find. The reason i asked about handling the egg, is here in a few days i'd like to candle the egg(s) to see for viens in the eggs to see if there was indeed fertilization, but i don't want to do that if i'm told by experts not to. Thank you for your time and pacience!
