: I purchased a canaries that was singing just great in the pet store. About 2 weeks later he hardly sings at all he is very livily jumping around in his cage. he opens his mouth, but only little peep come out. Once in a great while he will sing, but it is very low. The cage should be against a wall and slightly above your eye level. Make sure that there are no loud noises, pets or children scaring the bird. Proper rest is very important for all birds. The bird needs the same number of hours of light and dark as occur in nature. If there is a light or television on in the room at night, cover the bird's cage with a towel. Diet is EXTREMELY important! See should be vitamin, mineral, and protein enriched. Each day, the bird needs a small amount of fresh food. See the Link for more information.
