: : : I have been to many, many sources on parakeet breeding and am now quite knowledgable about the subject except for one thing. All the places I have been say that after the chicks are out of the nesting box, the hen will start a new clutch, and this will go on and on. They say you shouldn't let her raise more than two clutches in a row. What they don't say is, how do you stop her from raising another clutch? 

: : If the hen does not appear exhausted, you can allow up to four nests in a row.

: : The nest box should be installed in the Spring and removed in mid-Summer.  This way, when the nest box is taken away, pairs almost always stop breeding.
