I think my pale gray budgie is a hen. She is about a year old and has had a brown cere for about six months or more. She is NOT tame and loves to bite people. (She draws blood!) She is very aggressive, fearless, and stubborn. Are these normal hen traits? For the past several weeks, she has lunged at my face when I kiss her goodnight and cover her cage. I thought this was scary at first, but I think maybe she is playing with me. During the day, we dance together (bobbing heads at each other and I ruffle my hair while she fluffs up her head and makes weird body postures....) I played with her (danced, talked and let her bite my hand) after she lunged at the cage tonight, and she seemed very upset when I finally put the cover on her cage for bedtime. She whislted and seemed to be calling me. Could this scary lunging and biting be play to her??? Is this normal?? Is my keet crazy? The budgie I had before this one was so timid, so submissive and sweet. They seem VERY different, but, although I love and miss my sweet little blue boy, I admire my current budgie's fiesty attitude. Is this a common difference between cocks and hens?
