Canary FAQ

Posted by lynette rackett on March 20, 2004 at 18:20:14:

i am not sure if the mother or the young killed the others. i do know that last week there were two left, and both seemed to be doing well, they were the same size and were active and vocal. the mother had not been spending much time in the box with her young then.
the bird cages are in our main living room area, where everyone spends most of thier time. so it isnt always quiet. we are not going to let the birds breed again anyway. there is no need, there are enough unwanted birds in this world.
the baby has been picking at it's seed, but not really eating enough to sustain itself. i have one dish in the cage that has a mix of dry seed with crushed seed. and the other dish has crushed seed mixed with water.
it is down to about 3 to 4 hand feedings with the bird formula a day now. it spends a lot of time sleeping still.
