Budgies breed better (try saying that 5X fast!) in cages. Moving the birds to a flight is not going to help. Also, if the birds are loose in the attic, a sanitation disaster and damage to the premises is sure to be the result. Chewing on plaster and flying into the window is not going to be good for the birds, either! Is the environment where the cages are now noisy? Is there a lot of foot traffic and/or disturbances at night? If this is the case, moving the CAGES up to the attic might be the solution. Before you do that, think about how hot it gets up there during the Summer. Where do you have the birds now? What is the size of the cages? You do have nest boxes installed, right? : I have seen my male and female parakeet mate like 7 times 2 or 3 weeks ago, and she has not layed one single egg yet. I don't think she is egg-bound because she is very active and eats and everything. I have an idea (?), and its for my 5 parakeets to go up to the attic. The attic is big enough for more than 5 parakeets, the dimensions are approximatly 2 x 3.5 meters and about 1-2 meters high. There is a small 4 x 3 ft. window, and i can open it so light can shine through (when it gets warmer, then i will open windows); will this be enough light for them to breed? Im guessing that if they don't want to breed in a cage, then i might as well try it in the attic. Is this a good place (attic)? or not? Please give suggestions and comments. Thanks, Sergio
