: I just bought a black capped conure and will be picking him up around end of March because he's not weaned yet and they are hand feeding him. I've been told that this is a smaller, quieter & more timid type of conure. Is there anything special about it's behavior I need to know. They recommended wing clipping, and I bought a little playgym for him. I've never had an interactive bird b4 and is there anything else I need to know...thanks Judy, ps I have 2 canaries and am used to this type of bird..Judy, I have not had that type of bird but I have had an African Grey which I loved dearly. Clipping the wings will keep the bird from flying into the windows or mirrors or even flying out the door. This type of bird likes to be with the family and will want to be out of its cage often. Just make sure that when you can't watch it (when you leave the hous or go to be) that it is safely in it's cage. They are chewers so watch what plants it chews on, if you have any, some house plants are poisions to birds. Contact your local nursuray and they should beable to tell which ones. Also feed your bird a variety of things. Seeds alone or as the staple of the diet is bad for the birds health. Fruits and veggies, ceral and crackers are some of the things he can eat, basically anything you eat you can feed to your new friend. Rember that this is like haveing a permant 2 year old around. Good luck and keep us posted. Jodi
