Hi, you could also look at the amount of light/temperature of the room. If it is too dark this may be deterring them from breeding. Canaries like to get up and go to bed with the sun and usually lay when there are more hours of daylight. If you are going to separate them for a while I would move the male and leave the female in her familiar surroundings with nest and nesting material. If she is ready to breed she will start shredding paper in her cage and trying to build a nest. Also if cages are next to each other they may "kiss" through the bars. Good luck! |
