: My parakeets finally successfully hatched a baby bird, it's feathers are just starting to come in. It is in a nesting box in my aviary. The mother is now letting the other birds (I have 6 adult parakeets) enter the box. Is this normal or will the harm the baby. What should I do? I know that the father feeds the mother (even if there is more than one father)for awhile and then helps to feed the baby. However another female in the box may mean she likes that nest better and it might cause a fight that will endager the baby. Make sure you have one more nest than you have females and that they are equal in height. This should stop it. |
