If you do not know then you should separate them. In fact you should separate them now anyway. Then you will know who is eating them. It is very bad for them to develope a taste for the eggs for they say that sometimes you should never try breeding them once they eat the eggs. Your female has already layed enough eggs for 1 season anyway because she loses a lot of calcium from egg laying. Try feeding them a lot of good green vegatables and get a calcium supplement for the female and cuttle bones for both. It usually takes about 21 days for the eggs to hatch. If you separate them you can keep their cages close to one another so that they see each other. If there are babies from these eggs after a few days you can let the male back in with the Mother but watch to make sure he is helpful to her and does not pester her. Some males are very good Dads and others are not so good. since you are not really up on breeding get yourself a good book about breeding. I do not consider myself an expert on breeding as I only have 1 pet canary. There is a good book that you can find on the internet written by a very good canary expert by the name of Linda Hogan. I do not know the exact address but do a search on her name and you should find where you can get her book. I wish you luck and please let me know how you make out. Grace
