This year, though, I have spotted two different male cardinals that are losing their head feathers rapidly and even a female that has only one feather on her crest. Could this mutation have something to do with what I feed them?</font></font> <font face=arial size=2>: Hello Janet:</font> <font face=arial size=2>: I never saw this in my life but there is always a first time. I don't think it has anything to do with what you are feeding them as long as it is a good wild bird seed mix. If you go to a wild bird seed store you might ask if there is a supplement that can be either put in the seed mix or feed them that may help this condition.</font> <font face=arial size=2>: I wish you good luck and keep on feeding the little wild birds they need to eat and drink and you are doing a god thing.</font> <font face=arial size=2>: Grace</font>
