These are some ideas recommended in my canary book: -put the cage outside with door open and food dish filled, and keep your eyes on it -play a recording of birdsong near the cage (if you have a recording of canaries or of your canary, that's even better) -if he has favorite music that you play for him, play it so he will recognize where "home" is -have a bird net at the ready in case he comes nearKeep your hopes up, and your eyes on him. Caged canaries often do not have much endurance, and will tire quickly. This is when you should be able to catch him. Also, at night, he will be roosting. Find where he settled for the night, and redouble your efforts to catch him. Another thing... birds often cannot fly when wet. If he is nearby, consider drenching him with a hose (with a moderate, not forceful, spray) and netting or grabbing him. Just make sure he isn't up too far when you do this, or he could fall and get seriously hurt. If you have lost sight of him, the following steps should be taken: -spread the word to neighbors, and especially to any birdwatchers in the area, who will keep an eye on their bird feeders for your bird -post fliers with a picture around your town -alert vets in the area Hope I was of help to you. I sure hope you catch your little bird.
