When I opened the door to her cage she did not jump out like she normally does. She just remained sitting on her perch looking up at me sort of testing me. She was content to have me stand there holding the door open. I thought she was a bit less rambuncious, because usually she will pull up on her doors to let us know she wants out, and she did not do it once last night. About 8:30pm as we watched TV she let out this load unusal sound. I looked over and she was laying all weird. Her head was cocked back and she looked like she was in a lot of pain. I tried to move her a little to make sure she was not stuck on anything or anything on her. She flapped her wings a bit and rolled onto her back. She was breathing but in a lot of pain. We tried to drip some water toward her mouth but she did not even respond to it. Then her legs started shaking fiercely. By then I had called an emergency animal hospital and spoke with them and they advised I rush her in as soon as possible. We covered the cage in a blanket and ran to the car. While driving she started to flail and then suddenly went still. What happened to her? I really need answers. In a matter of less than three hours she went from being perfectly fine to dead. She was about 8-9 months old and this should no0t have happened. She frequently flew around and explored but we always kept an eye on her. Did she have a seizure? A heart attack? Although you watched her closley is there house plants she could have chewed on. Some are posionous to birds. If not at least that is one thing that can be rulled out as a possibility. We do not have any plants in our apartment. Actually we have a water lily on top of a beta bowl, but I keep her away from at all times so it wasn't that. It almost looked as though she was having a heart attack or seizure of sorts. She looked in pain which was the most awful feeling to see her like that. It went on for about 15-20 minutes.
